Saint Mark's Church on Frederiksberg happens to be my old parish church, but
that is not the primary reason that I chose it for this modelling project. I
wanted to do a brick church in romanesque style, and Saint Mark's fitted the
bill perfectly.
Saint Mark's was built in 1902, at a time when Copenhagen was rapidly expanding outside the city ramparts. The area was quite undeveloped at that time, as can be seen on the photo below, but that did not last long, as the surrounding buildings were built in 1903-04.
The church was designed by Carl Lendorf, and the flanking buildings by Andreas Clemmensen. The flanking buildings forms a nice little "square" around the church, but sadly the city planners has chosen to mark the 100 year anniversary of the church by breaking up the symmetrical plan, in an attempt to squeeze in a few more parking places. Acknowledgements The trees in this scene was made with Gilles Tran's MakeTree macro. Gilles Tran has also generously provided me with the car models. Scene stats
